I am just as much a sucker for the latest gadget as the next girl. I love that feeling of amazement when I see someone’s crazy idea come to life. The only thing that can top that in my book is when someone’s crazy idea not only wow’s me but manages to accomplish a social goal like a cleaner environment. I was pretty impressed when I read in TIME magazine that a London dance club is using the rhythm of their patron’s feet to meet up to 60% of the clubs energy needs. The technology harnesses the pressure of the dancers on a special floor made with crystals and uses it to charge batteries which power select parts of the club. Even the perspiration of the club-goers adds to the experience, it changes the color of the heat sensitive walls. This experience adds a new slant to the idea of a collective engagement, participants may not even know they are part of the experience, and the more people involved the higher the impact…literally.
